A key feature of the Santa Monica & Mansfield project is how it reconsiders the conventional apartment layout.
Instead of laying out each unit in the familiar side by side double loaded orientation, the units are arranged in an interlocking pattern offering multiple configurations within one unit type.
The open layout encourages a communal environment integrating the temperate Los Angeles climate with each unit.
A rooftop garden, running the entire length of the project, serves as a bucolic backdrop to sweeping views of the Hollywood Hills.
Internal interlocking courtyards are linked through a network of pedestrian streets, courtyards, passages, views and grand alleys.
The entire project is organized around a central courtyard with an large communal pool at it's focal point.
