Type I Construction

150 Orange Grove is located on a seven acre site adjacent to the 210 Freeway. The existing building once housed the international headquarters for Avery Dennison, designed by noted Southern California architect William Pereira.

Purpose-built as a corporate headquarters, our client looked to update the building esthetics and functions.

Over the years the forecourt garden along with the koi pond fell into disrepair physically obscuring the main entrance. Uncharacteristic of Pereira’s work, the building’s reddish brown precast panels added to the dated look of the building.

LARGE architecture re-worked the internal organization of the building to better suit the needs of a class-A office space. This included renovating the lobby, elevator cabs and core.

On the exterior we removed a large canopy and overgrown vegetation which hid the main lobby from the street. The existing design elements were reinforced through the strategic use of a minimal palette.

Two large sun screens were also added to place emphasis on the entry while complementing the existing design language.
